We Live in one of the MOST EXCITING Cities in America

Movoto, a national real estate blog, has been working hard to help people evaluate communities.  They recently put together a list of the 10 most exciting cities in America, based on a detailed list of quality of life criteria, and Milwaukee made that list.

We know Milwaukee is a fantastic place to live, but you may be surprised to learn that we came in 7th place, directly behind New York City.

These might not be the typical criteria you would use to evaluate a city, but they are all very important to consider about any place.  Milwaukee also does a great job at excelling at this evaluation.

The 10 criteria were:

  • Park acreage per person
  • Percent of population between 20 and 34 years old
  • Fast food restaurants per square mile (the fewer the better)
  • Bars per square mile
  • Big box stores per square mile (the fewer the better)
  • Population diversity
  • Movie theaters per square mile
  • Museums per square mile
  • Theater companies per square mile
  • Music venues per square mile

These are all great outlets to have in a city, and we have them all!

Milwaukee is sent on the beautiful Lake Michigan, and with that comes parks and beaches that are a great place to walk, run, play, and picnic.  Veterans Park is beautiful in the summer and the other parks throughout the city, including Pere Marquette Park and Cathedral Square are great places to sit back and enjoy the city.  From large to small we have it covered.

Milwaukee is also a great city for young people.  Milwaukee has been listed as one of the top cities for new college grads.  There are plenty of job opportunities, and the atmosphere of the city is perfect for the younger generation.  It is also a very affordable city that offers great living opportunities and amenities for any young person.

There are a few fast food places in Milwaukee, but we don't need them.  The number of fantastic, one-of-a-kind places we have in this city is astounding.  In the mood for a good burger? Try A.J. Bombers or Sobelmans.  You're in the mood for Mexican?  Try Bel-Air Cantina or Botanas.  We can do so much better than fast food has to offer.

We know that Brew City is the place to go if you want a great bar atmosphere.  Everything from Water Street to Brady Street to the Third Ward has a variety of choices.  There is something for everyone here, and they are a great place to meet new people and have a great time.

We are a great city for museums, theater, and music too.  The Milwaukee Art Museum and the Milwaukee Public Museum are just two of the great museums you have to enjoy.  When it comes to theaters and performance groups, we have many!  The Rep, The Pabst, The Skylight, and more!  It is almost impossible not to find something you are interested in seeing on the stage in Milwaukee.  And then music venues, where should we begin?  There is The Riverside, The Marcus Center, The Bradley Center, The Rave, The Miramar Theater, The Marcus Amphitheater and more.  Milwaukee is a regular tour stop for plenty of great music acts, and the shows they put on here are hard to forget.

It is not hard to see why Milwaukee is such an exciting place to live.  Whether you have lived here forever, are planning a move, are want to come for a visit, this is a city that will be a fantastic place for you!
