Traffic Patterns
Milwaukee enjoys one of the shortest
commute times of many urban areas, but
it is not immune to traffic congestion.
Peak rush hour times are between 7 and
8:30 a.m. for traffic headed into the city
and from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for traffic leaving
downtown. While traffic usually maintains
an even flow, there are several
congestion points:
The Marquette Interchange
(I-94 and I-43 downtown)
The Stadium Interchange
(U.S. 41
and I-94, five miles west of
downtown)
The Zoo Interchange
(I-894 and I-
94, eight miles west of
downtown)
The Hale Interchange
(I-894 and
I-43, 11 miles southwest of
downtown)
The Layton Interchange
(I-894
and I-94, five miles south of
downtown)
Keeping these congestion points in mind
during peak traffic times will make the
search for your new home as stress-free
as possible.
Accommodations
Selecting a temporary home can be
challenging because the area has so much
to offer. Milwaukee has several
independent hotels and franchise
properties located throughout the
metropolitan area. These include
traditional, single-room hotels and all-
suite or extended-stay hotels, which cater
to people who need a room for several
nights or longer. Hotels often include
such amenities as room service, car
portering, valet, linen and maid service.
Extended-stay properties typically have
separate sleeping and living areas, as well
as fully equipped kitchens for making
meals. These properties are ideal for
business people who need the extra
room to prepare presentations and meet
with colleagues, or for those who want
“home-away-from-home” ambience while
they search for a more permanent
residence. Extended-stay hotels typically
offer laundry facilities and fitness centers.
