positively contribute to society as a
whole. The fully accredited curriculum in
Catholic schools adheres to all state and
federal standards, with students in
Catholic schools exceeding the national
average on standardized tests at all grade
levels. The average composite ACT score
of 23.6 for high school seniors is higher
than state and national averages, with a
99% graduation rate for the schools as a
whole and over 94% of graduates
choosing to pursue higher education.
While the teachings of Jesus Christ are
infused into every subject area and
extracurricular activity, children of all
traditions are welcome, with every race,
ethnicity and socio-economic background
represented. In fact, 16.2% of elementary
and 25% of high school students are non-
Catholic. Financial assistance,
scholarships and participation in
Wisconsin’s School Choice Program help
to make a Catholic education relatively
accessible to all. The disciplined, safe,
nurturing and focused environments in
Archdiocesan schools not only prepare
students for continuing education and
future careers, but also develop
individuals as lifelong, faith-filled learners
who engage in family and community life.
Lutheran Schools
Wisconsin has a large Lutheran popula-
tion and two synods of the Lutheran
Church – the Missouri Synod and the
Wisconsin Synod – offer elementary and
secondary education in southeastern
Wisconsin. The other major Lutheran
church in the state, the Evangelical
Lutheran Church of America (ELCA),
does not operate elementary or second-
ary schools. The South Wisconsin District
of the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod
offers Lutheran education at more than
50 elementary schools and five high
schools - Milwaukee Lutheran High
School, Racine Lutheran High School,
Lake Country Lutheran High School
(Hartland), Living Word Lutheran School
(Jackson) and Martin Luther High School
(Greendale). The Wisconsin Synod has
one high school in the area - Wisconsin
Lutheran High School (Wauwatosa).
