Quality of Life
There are many reasons why Milwaukee is such a good place to live:
- The metropolitan area's average commute time is 22 minutes, among the lowest of the nation's larger metro areas. (The average commute time in Atlanta is 31 minutes, 38 minutes in New York, and 31 minutes in Chicago).
- The area's standard-of-living is one of the best in the country. Milwaukee's per capita income was $36,500 in 2004. That is 12 percent higher than the national average.
- Milwaukee is vibrant. Milwaukee's job growth consistently outperforms most Midwestern cities of its size.
- Milwaukee is safe. Of the nation's 45 largest metropolitan areas, Milwaukee had the 11th lowest violent crime rate in 2005, according to the FBI.
