The Last Waltz: 50th Anniversary Tribute
This production is a tribute to the original concert that happened 50 years ago this year, that made The Last Waltz a Thanksgiving tradition across the country. The all-star house band will feature members of PHUN and Mike & Friends, and will be directed by Mike Scieszinski himself, while both the Madison and Milwaukee music scenes are well represented by musicians participating in The Last Waltz at Shank Hall. Featuring many special guests throughout the night, attendees can expect the music of The Band, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Dr. John, Neil Young, Neil Diamond and more!
The iconic Last Waltz concert happened 50 years ago on Thanksgiving 1976, and was billed by Bill Graham as the final performance by The Band. The whole affair was recorded on video, and eventually made into a concert film by Martin Scorsese. This is a piece of American Music History that deserves to be celebrated, and a great way to work off that pumpkin pie! Happy Thanksgiving weekend!
