The Great Leap by Lauren Yee is a fast-paced drama about an ambitious Chinese American basketball player who joins an American college team traveling to Beijing for an exhibition game. Set against the backdrop of U.S.–China relations and the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, the play explores family, identity, culture, politics, and the power of basketball to bridge very different worlds.
